We booked online, through Sunmaster.co.uk, however the price we booked at was "no longer available" when we were contacted 2 days later to confirm all details. We had to pay an extra £70. It seemed strange to find the cheaper price still advertised online 10 days later. Trading standards were very interested. Sunmaster were not and as yet I haven't had any response from them. I had also queried the hotel rating as online states the hotel is a 4 star but the paperwork from Sunmaster stated 3 star.
The Golf Plaza Spa hotel is advertised as being on a golf course with a spa & sounded perfect for a relaxing break. However on arrival we found the golf course to be at least 1/2 mile away & nothing to do with the hotel at all, so full green fees were payable and there were certainly no views of the course from our room. The spa was located in a separate building altogether & although we were hotel guests still had to pay full charges for use of the small gym/ tratments. I had a massage, & I found the treatment to be below the standard I am used to in the UK. The spa itself it very small with limited facilities and not even a hairdryer in the changing room. So after a gym workout or a spell in the pool you had to shower & walk back outside to the hotal with wet hair. Not great especially on a rainy day.
Our room was on the ground floor with a bus stop directly outside the window. So at night we couldn't sleep for the noise from both the planes - hotel is directly under the flight path, although not told on the website - and the buses idling outside. When we asked to be moved to a quieter room, we were told that it would incur a charge of an extra 15 euros per day.
We were booked in on a half board basis. Breakfast was fine, good selection all buffet style. Evening meals were less good. The food was uninspiring and repetitive. By day 3 we were absolutely not looking forward to dinner. Food was recycled if not eaten, reappearing the next day chopped up & covered in mayonaisse. Not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. You could not order an after dinner coffee in the restaurant - more canteen than restaurant. You had to go upstaoirs to the smokers bar for a coffee.
The surrounding area is just more hotels & apartments. With the weather being overcast we didn't sit at the pool much & struggled to fill the days. For the first time ever I considered trying to get an earlier flight home! That says it all really.
