Just come back from Buenos Aires apts in Playa Del Ingles and we had a fantastic time.
The hotel was lovely, from the onset we were greeted by an ever so friendly man at the reception desk who also turned out to be very helpful during our week there. However the same could not be said about the lady at the pool snack bar, no manners and no rush in her whatsoever!
All rooms look over the pool so we were very pleased with the view from our balcony. The pool area was very clean and there was just about enough loungers to go round but you should aim to bag one prior to 12:00 as we had to wait and pounce one day! The jacuzzi was brilliant and was the perfect way to cool off from the sun. They also provide foam mattresses (top shelf of wardrobe) to use on your lounger...really comfy!
We were really impressed with the bathroom, in particular the walk in shower! The maid cleaned daily (except sunday), and there were no cockroaches in sight. The only downside to the room was that there was no air con and as the bedroom is a separate room with only a small window, that is a shame. Also if you should fancy an early night, it can be quite difficult to get to sleep with the constant traffic noise and music from the Hard Rock Cafe right below the hotel.
The hotel was in an ideal location...5 mins walk from Yumbo Centre, 10 mins from Kasbah Centre and 15 mins walk from beach. The beach was lovely and not too pricey for a lounger (5 euros), but beware the extremely hot sand!
I enjoyed my stay in Playa Del Ingles but probably wouldn't visit again as I found it very commercial and the nightlife to be very samey. In the Kasbah Centre, they play R & B/ Hip Hop EVERYWHERE! and as its not really to our taste we were a bit fed up of it by the end of the week and the further you go towards the centre the more the drinks are...18 euros was the most we paid and that was when we were too drunk to realise! If you head for the Yumbo Centre its more varied and more gay orientated...but there doesn't seem to be a happy medium anywhere.
If its cheap food and drink you are after, I recommend the Red Cow which is opposite the hotel, they even did fish fingers for adults. However the best places to eat are in the Yumbo Centre.
The operator was brilliant, can't fault Thomson at all.
All in all it was a good holiday...hotel 9/10, resort 7/10, operator 9/10.
I would recommend PDR to those aged 18-22, I think we were too old!
