This was an all inclusive First Choice, last minute, winter sun holiday which we booked for a relaxing break. We also took the opportunity to explore ancient Egypt. The one and only main problem with our holiday was the location of our third floor cabin which is directly under the bar and dance floor. The noise is unbelievable. At times I thought the roof would cave in especially in the evening when the disco was in full swing. This made the cabin uninhabitable from 6pm until midnight, and that was if you were lucky. If people stayed up until 3am, then you were unable to get any sleep. It is a pity because the staff, the food, and the excursions and guides were excellent. All in all very good value for your money. I will return to the Nile and a river cruise, but not through this group. Disastrous Holiday, Do Not Choose These Boats  Review by Mrs S Cook from South Yorkshire on July 29, 2009 for stay during March, 2009.  Overall    Service    Room Comfort    Cleanliness    Food    Value   Tour Operator/Travel Provider: First Choice Holiday Review This was our third trip on the Nile but we had previously travelled with Thompson aboard the Crown Prince and were truly satisfied. This time however our friends booked with First Choice and we thought a change would be ok. What a mistake! We paid extra for 2 deluxe cabins and what we all got was a tatty room with old worn carpets and dirty curtains, so goodness knows what the other cabins were like. When we complained we were told the boat was full so we had to put up with it. The restaurant buffet was badly organised, reminiscent of a school canteen with queues at all times. After spending just one night on board the Orchid we were in collision with another boat, and had to re-pack and suffer a traumatic journey by armed guarded coach to another boat arriving at 12.30 a.m. On arriving at the Jasmin boat we had a wait of 2 hours for our luggage which obviously had to be unpacked for a second time. Hoping this might be an answer to our prayers that the Jasmin might not be as shabby as the Orchid was a huge mistake as this one was even worse! The staff were unfriendly, insufficient sunbeds (some people never managed to get one all week, only because we got up at the crack of dawn did we succeed), outside bar never opened, food and particularly the 'all inclusive' drink were of very poor quality. Quality Quality of holiday was very very poor and we missed two days cruising owing to the collision. We were not offered compensation. Service Service by the staff on board the Orchid was good but the Jasmin staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. Location The Nile Cruise is amazing if you don't choose First Choice and if Thompson take over we hope they will lose these boats. Food Food not bad but by the time you've queued it was cold.
