Senegambia Beach hotel sits right beside the sea in 20 acres of its own well appointed gardens. There is an atmosphere of ultimate relaxation here, and there are some activities on offer during the day. Accommodation is either in the main building or in the Jacana bungalows.

Senegambia Hotel. Having just returned on 22/04/2008 I can update on this hotel. Firstly the the airport, a man will grab your cases and trolly them the to the bus for a tip(fairenough )Then the driver and another man want money to put your cases onto the coach(not good )on arrival at the hotel the
driver holds his hand out for another tip.Having read previous reviews about this hotel,I can only say
it must be the change of ownership in december2007 which has resulted in the demise of this hotel.
My wife cried when taken to our accomodation.we accepted the third room offered.Breakfast was
always poor (undercooked eggs, cold beans, fatty cold bacon and frankfurter sausage)I must admit
the omelets were fresh cooked and the porridge was OK.The evening meal was varied but always cold.
The sea was too rough to swim in.The local (BUMSTERS)were a nightmare always begging.there are good resteraunts outside the hotel. The car exhaust fumes in the streets are bad.The beach was ok until the quad bikes went by, The sea was too rough to swim in.The grounds had lots of wildlife like
(lizards, monkys, beautiful birds)The hotel is closing in may2008 for refurbishmentso many of the staff
will be made redundant, maybe this was the reason for the I dont care attitude of some staff.Maybe
when the work is completed it will return to the glory of previous reviews, but for us goodby Gambia.
NEVER AGAIN.

We came back yesterday, and had a fantastic time at this hotel. We were B&B, and the food was good. Eating out is really an experience, you might have a power cut half way through, but put it down to a Gambian Experience!! Fish is excellent in Paradiso or African Queen, both on the strip. Try Green Mamba, eat as much as you like, well worth it. The people are so friendly, be firm with bumsters and you will get no hassle at all. The new beach pool at the hotel is good and the snacks there are the ame price as home. Change money out of hotel, as you will get a much better rate. We will be back.

This was our first visit to gambia and have returned since in 2006 and 2007.
The hotel is set in brilliant grounds, the food is exceptional, but to fully experience the gambia you need to go and eat out in one of the many restaraunts on the strip.
The local people are freindly and a polite but firm NO will stop anyone haggling you during the day or night.
The airport can be a bit of a nightmare, keep a close eye on your luggage, but remember that the pay for a days wage in the gambia is less than £1 per day, so they are only trying to help.
If you are a keen fisherman get yourself upto Denton bridge to experience the best fishing in the gambia.
If you want a taxi make sure it is green which are run by the country, the driver will wait for upto 2 hours so if you want to explore somewhere different you are safe in the knowledge that your taxi will be there on your return.
Overall the gambian experience was brilliant so much that my wife and I have returned for two more visits and plan to carry on visiting the gambia for years to come.
