The Atlas Medina and Spa hotel will keep you in perfect comfort. Babbling fountains and the sound of soft music will greet you in the hotel's chic reception area. You'll feel positively tranquil as you enjoy its Moorish architecture and the odd splash of '30s jazz.
Each room is perfectly designed and kept to very high standards. They feature en suite bathrooms and all you need to enjoy your stay in splendour. Out on the terrace you'll find a magical looking pool surrounded by a garden of fragrant flowers and whispering palms. A selection of relaxing treatments await you at the hotel's Oriental Spa which are sure to ease out every knot and worry.
Delicious a la carte cuisine is provided at the Le Jacaranda restaurant which is elegantly set out with pristine, white tablecloths, sparkling silver and lush red and cream decorations. Following dinner you can enjoy a cool cocktail as the pianist plays away your cares in the low-lit Le Douiria bar. The Atlas Medina and Spa is the perfect place to forget the world and relaxed.

We booked for a weeks break and were really looking forward to relaxing in a so called 5 star hotel. We were so unbelievably disappointed with the service we received that we ended up cutting our holiday short!
The staff are rude, simply do not care about their customers, steal from rooms and really have no idea of the meaning of customer service!
We are both keen and seasoned travellers, having this year alone already been to Dubai, New York, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and South Africa. So, I think it’s fair to say that our expectations are realistic with many comparisons to draw upon. Naturally, culture always has a part to play in differing expectations, but again having previously visited countries such as Egypt, India, South Africa and others, we are also well versed in this and adapt our expectations accordingly.
Unfortunately, even with our expectations adapted to allow for the Moroccan culture, our stay was utterly appalling and far removed from service levels that represent a 5 star rating.
Here are some of the key issues:
• We had to ask 4-5 times for basic requirements e.g. toilet rolls, additional pillows etc. Actually having to go and get these ourselves in the end, because our requests were never met.
• The staff were consistently rude with an attitude of ‘it’s not my problem’ each and every time we tried to express our concerns. The hotel manager actually said “I don’t have time for you” – a fatal approach to providing good service.
• On walking into the hotel with a bottle of water and a packet of crisps, we were aggresivley leapt upon by a member of staff who SHOUTED at us that it was forbidden. (we had read on many review websites like this one to use the fridge in our room so had bought some water to save us buying it when out and about). We were both incredibly intimidated by his demeanour. He continued to shout at us in the reception area, which made us feel extremely embarrassed, even though we had offered for him to take the water and crisps from us.
• We wanted to experience a number of tours, yet the information desk set up for this was poorly equipped and help in making arrangements was non-existent. We had to hire private taxis instead.
• We were regularly provided with incorrect information. For example, we were quoted a taxi price to the airport 3 times which then proved incorrect and so we found ourselves without enough money to pay for it.
• The number of smaller service issues that we experienced is immense and could cover pages.
• Most concerning of all, was that some expensive make up was stolen from our bathroom in our hotel room. Whilst we had paid for a safe (neither of us have had to pay for a safe in a hotel before!) and were using it religiously for money, jewellery, ipods, cameras etc. We hadn’t thought it necessary to lock away cosmetics and certainly didn’t expect them to be stolen from our bathroom in a 5 star hotel. What makes this matter worse is that when we reported this to reception, the staff laughed in our faces. We were appalled! The management team appeared to be of the view that there was nothing they could or should do about this. This was the final straw for us and feeling unsafe, unwelcome, intimidated and uncomfortable, we decided the only option for us was to leave early. We asked the manager to provide us with a refund due to the circumstances for the 2 days that we would not be staying and we were told that we had to take it up with our travel agent. To be honest, with staff stealing, management being rude and receptionists laughing at us, we felt isolated and intimidated on every level.
Marakesh is s nice place to go for 4-5 days but there are plenty of hotels available and we would advise finding another one, preferably one that has been recommended by someone you know!

I stayed at the Medina and Spa with my daughter on a half board basis. The food was ok, but not very exciting, and the drinks were expensive.
The room was lovely, but nearly every day, we found our patio door unlocked, after the maid cleaned, and although we complained it still happened. (there was direct access from outside to our balcony!)
The staff on the front desk didn't speak much english, and although we had a little school french between us, we struggled to make ouselves understood. One or two of the staff also treated us rather rudely, and were not overly helpful.
The pool is not heated and was freezing, just a few hardy souls swam.
Although I would not stay at this hotel again, If you are a french speaker, you might fare better than we did.
Marrakesh is an amazing City though, and not to be missed.
While we were there the film festival was on, which was quite exciting, as there were film cameras at the end of the road, and a large sceen set up in the Jemma el Fna for people to watch the films that were up for awards..
