Arriving in the reception of Royal Mirage Marrakech can only be described as discovering a chest full of sparkling treasures. Sensational Moroccan carpets spread over a floor of perfectly polished marble, splendid chandeliers glittering at you from decorative ceilings and ornately-carved panels adorn the walls, giving just a small hint of what lies within this Aladdin's Cave. The hotel's fabulous position is just one of the things that makes it so unique. The view is dominated by the breath-taking snow-capped heights of the awesome Atlas mountains and for the perfect contrast of new and old, it's close to both the lively city centre and the medina's traditonal terracotta walls.
The hotel's architecture and design combines old world charm with contemporary style to stunning effect. Just one example of this can be found in the restaurants. Ricardo is a modern restaurant with a Mediterranean edge serving delicious Italian speciliaties including plates piled high with steaming pasta and pizzas topped with the freshest ingredients. For a more international flavour you could try Les Palmiers, an elegant, chandelier-lit dining space epitomised by clinking wine glasses, relaxed conversation and gentle music. If you fancy something more vibrant, Rissani could be just up your street with its traditional North African fare being accompanied by lively Moroccan music and fabulous belly dancers, meanwhile glimmering candles illuminate the ornate interior in soft light - perfect for an intimate meal.
Generously roomy bedrooms are draped in sunny shades of cream and yellow with balconies looking out over the pool or gardens and well-equipped en suite bathrooms. At the centre of the complex you'll find the pool, bordered by extensive sun terraces sprinkled with a wealth of sun loungers and parasols. If you simply want to relax in the sun or take a plunge in the immaculate pool this is the place to do it, and when you're ready to cool off from the hot Moroccan sunshine a fruity cocktail at the swim-up bar is just what the doctor ordered. To complete the recipie for a perfect holiday add flood-lit tennis courts, a jogging track, putting green and fully-equipped fitness centre. You can see why the Royal Mirage is the star in Marrekech's mighty crown.

Holiday Review
I stumbled (literally) upon the Royal Mirage Marrakech after having spent the previous 2 evenings nearby at an establishment run by the local authorities. The Royal Mirage beckoned with its fine retinue of entertainment ladies and bottom shelf liquor.
My room was clean enough and everything you'd expect to be in working order, was. Good hot water, flushable toilets and the door locked from the inside, which was a nice change for me given my previous experience with the Marrakech authorities. As an aside, if you ever find yourself disputing whether you have or have not paid your bar tab with a local bar manager, know that the authorities overwhelmingly side with the local shopkeeps and barmen. I've travelled enough to know this, but sometimes, after a long night of sightseeing, it slips your mind.
Thinking I had returned to my room and in much need of sleep and bathroom, I attempted to open the door to the room only to find that my key did not work in the door. But I heard people inside so I pounded hard on the door and insisted they leave immediately so I and my lady friend could get our rest. Frightened, the couple in the room called the authorities and the hotel management stepped in and explained on my behalf that people often mistake another guest's room for their own. For this good service I offer the highest praise for the management and staff of this hotel.
When a similar, or actually identical situation occurred the following night (different room this time) the staff again kindly escorted me and my new lady friend to my own room.
The cleaning staff did a fine job as well and I can't say enough to thank them. I literally can't say enough because the cleaning ladies asked that if I would please not use their real names in my review as fraternizing with guests is against the rules. But my bed was made up perfectly each day and there were always clean linens.
Bottom line, I'd go back and I'd stay at the Royal Mirage again!
Quality
Very good quality.
Service
Very good service, Back to the Royal Mirage... The staff were friendly and helpful, which brings me to another caveat. The doors to the rooms in this hotel all pretty much resemble all the other guest room doors. This can be confusing to a weary traveler trying to return to his room after a long night of sightseeing and soaking up the local culture. The Hotel also arranged an excellent private tour in Marrakesh (walking & driving a Comfort AC van), our private guide Nezha was great and spoke very good English.
Location
As others have commented, the location is great and the bar is chock full of hookers, though in this town you have to wonder why someone would pay for it, everyone being so sociable and generally open to dating foreigners!
Food
I didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on the food. They were stingy with toilet paper, but the locked closet containing the bathroom supplies was not well locked and I was able to stock my bathroom nicely while I remained there.
Andrea Williams said, "I stayed at the Medina and Spa with my daughter on a half board basis. The food was ok, but not very exciting, and the drinks were expensive.
The room was lovely, but nearly every day, we found our patio door unlocked, after the maid cleaned, and although we complained it still h..." (further information on Royal Mirage Hotel)
