The Patong Merlin enjoys a position that's just across the road from the peaceful Patong Beach as well as being a short walk from the lively resort centre - a great location for those who want to experience the variety of amusements Phuket has to offer. The hotel also has an extensive range of facilities from a brand-new sumptuous spa to three sparkling swimming pools that provide an oasis of calm where you'll find it easy to lie back and forget all the stresses of daily life. Rooms are comfortable and well-furnished, while the main restaurant, with views overlooking the sea, is the perfect spot to savour the Andaman sunset before heading out for an evening stroll to sample Patong's vibrant nightlife.

Phuket in Thailand is a place for people of all ages and tastes. It offers somewhere to laze on the beach or around the pool all day, party the night away, or play the tourist and adventure your way around some beautiful scenery.
Staying at the Patong Merlin was fantastic. It is located centrally and the environment of the hotel is warm and welcoming. The staff are very attentive of your needs and are quick with a smile, they seem genuinely interested in what you are doing for the day. Food in the resort is very good and reasonably priced to the outside restaraunts.
Pools in the resort are clean but they can be quite slippery around the edges, we saw several people hit the ground. However there is a doctor and a dentist located in the grounds of the resort, so any mishap could be attended to quickly. Overall I would say that the Patong Merlin is a great place to stay for everyone, from families with young children to grandparents.
I will be back

Having never been to a country like thailand, only places like canada, i was unsure to how the hotel accomadation and general saftey would play out. I was plesently surprised. as I walked up to the front of the hotel, my brother and i were quickly greated by the sercurity gaurd, Kampa, who was quick to offer to pose for a photo and to offer his help for anything we needed. we then entered hotel and were swarmed with friendly staff, taking our bags, directing us were to go, what to do and of course the first thing we got was a hot towel.
the room was a pool view (well worth the cheap as chips upgrade) room on the forth(top) floor, overlooking the pool. the room was immaculate, with thermostaticaly controlled air conditioning and nice modern furnishings. a short walk to the other side of the hotel and passing the three gorgeous pools, we found one of the hotels two resturaunts in the open air, directly across from patong beach.
the only bad thing i could find with this hotel is the edges of the pools are really slippery, so it is a good idea for elder visitors to take care here, as a trip to a thai hospital is something you probably best avoid. other than that, the staff were friendly and more than helpful ( we even went with one in his own car as he insisted on taking us to the shopping center we needed to go to. he droped us, waited around then drove us back, then refused to take money for the deed. (we did end up convincing him)). what was also great was we were expecting to pay extra for little things like towels due to the cheap price of the hotel but again we were plesently surprised. we found the location to be great as it is situated at one end of patong beach, we had a definate starting and finishing point when we went shopping, eating or out for a night on the town.
just to prove my positive review for this resort, i can let you know that my brother and I have already booked for this year, (2008) same room. this hotel is amazing in its simplicity, if you want a hotel that has gold lined walls, stay somewhere else. but if you want a cheap hotel that gives you a great deal more than you payed for, this is it. with a wide range of ages and nationalitys, we made friends of all ages. I will be back.
