Sun Village Resort and Spa is located right on the beach at Cofresi. The winning attraction is its seven pools on offer, right next to the white sandy beach and blue sea. This is not all however, also here are many different restaurants to choose from and many different sports.

We had a great time at this resort. The hotel is very nice with 7 pools on a hillside (lots of stairs) but what views from the swim up bars! The food was very good with a great selection (buffet and Thai, Mexican and Italian. Hotel room was standard, maid did an ok job of cleaning. My 9 year old son loved the shallower pools, especially the swim up juice bar pool just outside of our room.
Beach was very nice, located in a small bay somewhat protected being on the north side of the island.
A hurricane passed by on the south side on our last two days, all we had was some light wind, mild wave action and lots of rain. Still enjoyed ourselves.
The bar staff was excellent and couldn't do enough for us.
We went over to Ocean World which is a Five minute walk from the complex. Very good for family fun.
We participated in the Dolphin interaction, my son loved giving the dolphin a hug.
We hired a taxi and tour guide from our lobby to take us into Puerto Plata for a tour of the town.
Don't waste your money, nothing to see and all he did was take us to his buddy's stores to try and sell us jewellry and clothes.
To sum it up - I would recommend this vacation destination 8.5/10

A truly amazing holiday, there were 5 adults in our party ages ranging from 30, 41, 43, 53 & 55 year olds. This was our second visit to the DR the first being five year ago. We can honestly say we would recommend this hotel to anyone, the staff were so friendly, the food was fantastic and the cleanliness was second to none. We are definately going back. On arrival we was upgraded to a superior room (31323) at no extra cost, this was absolutely brilliant just cannot fault the place.
