Riu Taino lies on the fine white powder sands of Bavaro Beach, and is part of the wonderfully exclusive Riu complex that lies beyond the bustle of the resort. This accommodation is ideal for couples and families seeking a relaxed, peaceful getaway, with plenty of activities and facilities to keep guests of all ages smiling. Holidaymakers can enjoy the action-packed entertainment programme or simply recline with a good book by the pool.
The accommodation is part of the Riu complex, located away from Bavaro. The complex centre, Caribbean Street and the Riu Pacha disco are all just a hundred metres away.

Holiday Review
The holiday itself was good. We travelled with my eight year old daughter and my parents. It was good family time. However, with respect to the Riu Taino I would say you get what you pay for.
Quality
The rooms are quite outdated. We had a regular room and my parents had a suite. The sofa in the suite was quite filthy. Our double bed was small for the two of us and was quite hard. My daughter complained about her bed as well. The pillows were thin.
Service
The service was not great. We did tip the maid however our room was not cleaned on three occassions until after six pm. Our fridge was supposed to be restocked every other day and it wasn't until day 6 that they came. We had had the same water jug for 6 days. Some staff provided good service, some did not. We tipped those that provided good service accordingly.
Location
The grounds and beach are beautiful. The gardens are well maintained. If all you are looking for is beach, then Punta Cana is great. If you want more, then I would suggest going somewhere else because there wasn't much to do or cultuaral things to see off the resort.
Food
This is my major issue with this resort. The food is not great to begin with and is repetitive. You have to make reservations each day between 7am and 10 am and I will tell you if you arrive at 10 am you will likely not get one. The mexican was the best out of all. The asian next. The others barely make grade. We are not picky eaters. Now to the headline....We saw a family of rats in the La Bamba bar in the evening. They were crawling all over the fry bin and the grill. They even came out onto the food serving counter. We did complain to the manager but didn't see anyone come that night to do anything about it. We have pictures to prove it.
Entertainment
The night entertainment is not great. As a non-smoker, I could barely breath. We went over to the Bambu after a couple of nights. They have better entertainment and an outdoor theatre.
We went snorkelling one afternoon and it was great.
