Holiday Review
The holiday it self was a really nice experience. I have been to Jamaica on many occasions but have to admit that on this occasion staying at the Gran Bahia Principe was not one of the best times. I enjoyed Jamaica when I was out of the hotel. The hotel it self was fantastic look and from a distance when approaching it it look like a castle.
The Gran Bahia lacks alot of things the main thing being the Jamaican Culture. When you are in the hotel you feel as if you could be in Spain it lacks Jamaican characteristics, atmosphere and ambiance. All the things you look for when you travel to different destinations.
Some of the weighting staff seem very unhappy, some on the other hand looked as if they really enjoyed there job. The Hotel was extreemly undertstaffed so that probably explained why the staff seemed so unapproachable and constantly rushed off there feet. The management staff which were mainly, Spanish, Cuban or from the Dominican Republic where very rude and unapprachable never greeted you or sadi good morning....the little things that you expect when paying for a "5 star all inclusive hotel"
Quality
The hotel it self was lovely and clean, but the quality of the service received was far from 2nd to none wich it should have been.
Service
The service was bad you had to que along the poolside in the morning for breakfast on occasions, the restaurants were always fully booked so only got to visit 2 out of a possible 7 in two weeks, the. The Orchid restaurant was always under staffed having to wait atleast 10-15mins for a beverage on a good day for a drink after dinner.
Location
The location was fine about 30mins from Ocho Rios, 15 mins from Runaway Bay and 1hr from Montegobay
Food
The food was not good at all as you are in Jamaica you would atleast expect some form of Jamaican food. Dont get me wrong you did get it but once a week on 'Jamaica Day'. The food was mainly Spanish food, and totally lacked the Jamaican culture, there was not one occasion where i tasted Jamaicas traditional dish in that hotel. The food was often cold and bland and lacked flavour or taste. The best food in the hotel for me was the Don Pablo and The Grill restanrants, but as mentioned earlier it is extreemly difficult to get reservations.
Entertainment
The entertainment was absolutley rubbish, a previously stayed at the RIU in Runaway Bay- Now thats what I call entertainment. They had pool side entertainment but it was not very entertaining at all only on particular days.
The same enetrtainment crew is used all through out the hotel for everything daytime, afternoon and evening entertainment.

Hi Everyone,
This was truly the best resort I have been to in my travels to the Caribbean. The food was
amazing and the service was wonderful. The resort itself is spectacular. It feels like a 5
and a half star hotel. From far away it looks like gigantic castle. The pool, which is
about what feels like a kilometer long, is accomodating to everyone. There are childrens
sections, jacuzzis, two swim up bars, entertainment all day long, games including water
polo, volleyball, basketball, you name it, they can accomodate it. The entertainment staff
are the nicest people around, they really make you feel like you are in a far away place
enjoying the utmost luxury. Anything you ask of them, they do their best to get for you.
Believe me, they are working around the clock everyday, and they never let you see that
they are tired or overworked.
As for the accomodations, they are just wonderful. Pretty much every room is an oceanview,
or at least partial. The bathrooms are made of marble, seperate shower and private toilet.
The jacuzzi bath tubs are just what you need after tanning in the sunshine all day long.
It feels like a mini apartment. You have lots of room and different sitting areas.
There is a shopping square just on the east side of the resort. They have such beautiful
stores with wonderful gifts and souvenirs. You can of course bargain the prices with them.
If you buy more than less, they always make great deals and you walk away very happy, I
did anyway :) Every night, this shoppig square turns into the show district. They have a
different show every night, and each one is better than the other. It just gets better and
better. Once the show ends, there is a Karaoke Bar to the left, and a Disco Bar to the
right. You can wander from one to the other all night long. What ever mood you are in. I
absolutely loved this place!
They have gentlemen taking pictures of you all throughout your trip, with your permission
of course. They come around with some really neat things, for example, a rasta hat with
dreads coming out of it, or a really big Papagay, which they place on your head. These
turn out to be great pictures which make some really cool memories. The cost is one for
$15, three for $40, or if you want, you can get a disc made of all the pictures for $50.
That's what I ended up doing, and it was really worth it, my disc had about 50 pictures on
it.
Lucky for us, we had beautiful weather all week long. Overall I have to give this resort
kudos. There were 7 people in our group and they accomodated us each time we ate, and
anytime we wanted to see a show together. Everyting Irie!! No Problem Mon!
I will definately be going back to this exact resort. If you want to feel like a king or a
queen for a week or two, this is where you want to be! Thanks to SellOffVacations, We had
a great time!
