The Riu Yucatan is a stunning hotel embedded in its own tropical gardens and sitting right on the white sand beach. Accommodation is in various traditionally styled low-rise buildings, and the atmosphere is tranquil and peaceful. This is a destination for ultimate relaxation. The beautiful natural surroundings extend offshore too, with the famous Great Mayan Reef 100m away, a perfect place for exploring with a snorkel.
The hotel itself has plenty to offer too, including two good swimming pools with swim up bars. Sporty guests will enjoy the sea kayaking, tennis and scuba diving. By night there is still lots on offer, with some fantastic restaurants including one right on the beach. There is such a lot to choose from that guests will surely find something to tempt them night after night. After dinner the entertainment comes into its own, with the bars, live music and shows. There is a nightclub at the next door partner hotel which is a hit with everyone who likes to put on their dancing shoes.
The hotel is 3km away from Playa del Carmen centre. Fifth avenue is also near by, where there are many other shops, bars and restaurants to choose from.

Holiday Review
Went in a group of twenty-two 18 year olds and 12 moms. Had a wonderful time. Resort treated us wonderful. The only problem I had was minor, we were on the 3rd floor and it was not as cool as the bottom rooms and they checked our air conditioning and they went ahead and moved us to a room on the 1st floor. The beds were not the greatest. When we went into town on 5th ave. a lady we were with had her wallet stolen but that did not happen on the resort. All in all it was the best vacation we had. Loved the Riu Yucatan.

Beautiful beaches and the bluest water I have ever seen. The sand was not hot.

The food was really good. The pasta was excellent.
Entertainment
The entertainment was great, they performed Grease, Mama Mia,a couples dance and an International Dance. During the day they would have activities for all ages. They were exceptional.
