Achensee has enjoyed its position as one of the Tirol's most popular holiday destinations for centuries. As the largest lake in the Tirol it is set against the impressive backdrop of the Karwendel mountains which rise out of the lake. There is also the Achenseebahn steam railways, which is one of the world's oldest and takes passengers from Seespitz to Jenbach. You could try the leisure cruises across the lake to the nearby villages of Achenkirch and Maurach.

The lakeside bathing areas also boast tennis courts, mini golf and bowling alleys and bikes are available locally for hire.If your a keen golfer you'll be happy to hear that there is a 9 hole golf course in nearby Achenkirch and Pertisau has the oldest golf club in Tirol golf. In short, this lakeside holiday spot is the perfect location from which to enjoy a wealth of different new activities, or alternatively, just to relax in amongst some of Austria's most beautiful scenery.
