The village of Lake Millstatt is nestled in the curve of the shore line and climbs up the hillside,the calm shores and ever growing wooded areas make this the perfect place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.The promenade runs along the lake side and hotels and is a great evening stroll taking in the pretty scenery around.The 11th century Benetictine Monastry dominates the village and you will find an abundance of shops and cafes dotted around the surrounding streets.If want to explore further a field then you can take the lake boat service to the other smaller villages that run along the north shore line,there are some superb views to be seen from the mountains or visit Milstatt where there are miles after miles of walking routes waiting to be explored.The mountain huts are oozing with the smell of the local delicacies and are not to be missed!
Lake Millstatt has a superb list of activites to try if your looking for some energetic fun with mini-golf, fishing on the lakeside,a round of golf,game of tennis, or horse riding throught the delightful woodlands.You can find a range of watersports around the lakeside or hire a mountain bike and venture into the mountains.For some sightseeing you could take a trip to the Nockalm National Park.
You will be able to find all the general amenities that you can often need on holiday with Banks, Post Office, Doctor and Pharmacy and a great choice of Bars ,Cafes and Restaurants for dining.The bus servcie has links from Millstatt to Spittal and the mountain village of Bad Kleinkirchleim.Using the ferry service will connect you with 9 other different points around the lake .If you have your free Carinthia card you will be able to use some free or reduced travel on most of the transport systems.
