One of Bulgaria's most popular ski resorts, Borovets, lies in the lush pine forests of the Rila Mountains in the southwest of the country. Apart from a good snow record and varied slopes, the resort is famous for its varied and animated night life and very reasonable prices. Visitors can enjoy bargain shopping during their time off skiing, followed by a trip to one of the resort's many bars, cafes or clubs. There are spa facilities available in some of the larger hotels for those, wishing to relax even further. Local sporting facilities include bowling, indoor tennis, swimming pools,skidoos, and toboganning. Families may find that the horse drawn sleigh rides are a fun way to pass the time for both young and old.
Borovets is an excellent destination for family holidays with many daycare facilities available for children from 1 to 7 years old. The Samkov hotel guarantees 1 free child place (4 to 7 years old) in the Ski Kindergarten when 2 adults pre-book a 'First time' or 'Improver' ski pack. Most daycare facilities are very reasonably priced and offer some daily ski tuition for those aged 4 to 7. Places in the kindergartens can only booked locally. Children under 7 years old have free use of the ski lifts when accompanied by a parent. Those, ages up to 11 receive a free child lift pass if it is pre-booked and if the child is accompanied by an adult with a pre-booked lift pass.
