Situated in Santa's historical homeland, the Arctic resort of Ylläs offers a much desired combination of high-quality skiing as well as unique opportunities to explore Lapland. Being one of Finland's largest ski areas, Ylläs is uncrowded and modern, with slopes adequate to cater for all abilities and brand new gondola lifts. However, the most attractive features of the destination are the many other activities which are available. These include, but are not limited to, snowshoeing, husky dog sleigh rides, raindeer safaris, snowmobiling and many more.There is also a free ski bus provided in Yllas during the day ,with a small charge if used in the evenings.
Families with children will be especially attracted to the unique location of the resort, allowing for magical visits to Santa's secret home. There, the children can chat to the elves, see the workshop and have their picture taken with Santa himself. Other family excursions into the Lapp wilderness could involve ice fishing on one of the many frozen lakes, or taking a guided walking tour through the majestic forests to take in the beautiful views. You can also drive out into the wilderness on snow mobile and, with luck, have a glimpse of the unforgettable beauty of the Northern Lights.
The resort has a good range of bars and restaurants, all of which share a uniquely-Finnish party atmosphere. Eating out in Ylläs is easy and enjoyable.
