Bordered by Germany,Switzerland and Austria, Lake Constance is now the third largest lake in Europe.With a truly international feel and some spectacular sights on offer its fast becoming a popular holiday destination.The hotels are mainly situated in the lakeside town of Konstanz,on the German/Swiss border,and is the perfect place to start exploring the area whether you choose to do this by bike,foot or train and there are boats that will take you to the villages and islands around.
Walkers will be equally pleased with the paths and trails to explore and a great starting place is the 275km long walk around the lake its self,its advsied it will take roughly 2weeks to finish but you can cover a different section each day,and enjoy a spectacular view each day.
If you prefer to be hands on and want to try some different activities then there a large list to try inlcuding sailing, swimming, wine tasting at the lakeside vineyards, or pick from one of the 27 golf courses in the region for a spot of golf,(it is recommended that you book car hire as some courses are not within walking distance),if you just want to watch the world go by and soak up the views and the sunshine then you could try some fishing for a truly relaxing afternoon.

Keep an eye out for the many festivals held here in Keystone to,in the summer there are music festivals,and even a famous opera performed on a floating stage on the lake.The Konstanz Lake Festival is one not to be missed with a magnificent firework display in August.
