| J Stenhouse said, "Spent 2 fabulous weeks at the excellent and friendly Apartment Marilena in Milatos Beach, Crete. The Apartment is fully euipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday (even has small oven/microve and toastie machine!). It is beautifully decorated in blues & greens and has a large terrace with seating, picnic table, BBQ and great views over quiet countryside, olive groves and mountains. There are plenty of books, magazines (even maps of Crete), TV/video and you can borrow CD's from the owner's private collection of 1960's music. Being rural you can expect some noise from cockerels and dogs but you soon seem to ignore these! The Apartment sits below the home of the friendly Scottish owners (Villa Limani) who are on hand to help with shopping advice, local knowledge and contacts and guidance on eating Cretan food, car hire and exploring further afield. It is situated a mere 4/5 minute stroll from local shops, tavernas and the seafront and sits among local Cretan homes (next door is a bit untidy).
Milatos Beach has a great selection of tavernas and we liked in no particular order: No Stress, Sokrates and Zacharias (H Venggera at the harbour), but we tried and enjoyed most of them. We also wanted to celebrate a special ocassion and went (hosts reccomendation) to the excellent Galini Restaurant in the small village of KOUTOULAFARI (above Hersonnisos) where we had a fabulous time with great food and ultra-friendly staff. The Milatos Beach tavernas have a great selection of local specialities and the freshest of locally caught fish. There are also a couple of local 'supermarkets', tourist shops and 2 bars. The small harbour is lovely and boats still bring in fresh catches and it has a small man-made beach and there are plenty of pebble beaches stretching both sides of the village. There are great quiet and easy walks all around and you should walk up to the other Milatos and enjoy a cool drink at the local kafeneon.
All in all we had a fabulous, relaxing and regenerating holiday at Apartment Marilena and Milatos Beach and would certainly both rerurn and recommend it to couples looking for quality and friendliness at an affordable price. Many thanks." Read 1 review of Apartment Marilena |
