Located at the bottom of some of the most fantastic slopes in the Dolomites region, the Italian resort of Cortina has been, for a long time, known as one of the most attractive destinations in the region. The majestic slopes rise from the picturesque valley, guaranteeing perfect descents for all levels of skiers. The piste is almost wholly covered in snow making facilities, ensuring an excellent experience no matter the weather. For a more varied skiing holiday, visitors are invited to head over to other resorts in the area, such as Covara and the Dolomiti Superski area.
The apres ski at Cortina is varied, catering for all tastes. Wine bars serve the distinctive produce of the region, while the many hotel bars offer a low key atmosphere for a relaxed drink. Those, looking for a more animated evening can head over to one of the trendy bars in the center or perhaps even visit one of the local discos. Eating out is just as varied, suitable for all wallets and palates. The many traditional cafes serve delicious pizza, excellent pasta is available in Le Cinque Torri, owned by the Olympic skier Kristian Ghedina. There are also plenty of opportunities for more fine dining, at Beppe Sello or El Toula to name but a few.
The resort boasts plenty of fun activities for the non-skier. Horse riding, indoor tennis, ice skating, ice hockey, curling, dog sledding and snow rafting are all easily available. There is an ice disco for those, wanting to combine skating with an exciting evening out. Skiers will be delighted with the cross-country skiing and tobogganing opportunities.
