Geilo is set amidst the most beautiful scenerary of the banks of Ustedalen Fjord,and is at the very heart of the Norways 'winterland' region.This resort boasts a fantastic family location with skiing on both sides of the valley,Geilo has been attracting many types of visitors since the 1890's and remains to be unspoilt.

The Apres Ski here caters for all and with the relaxed atmosphere during the week, you can be sure to pick up the pace at the weekend,some of the bars not to be missed are Dr. Holms Ski, Lille Bla and Egoisten.
The activities here in Geilo are endless and are sure to keep you busy,if you fancy a change from skiing,you could try your hand at skidooing, kite-skiing, and dog sledding.The whole family however can participate in a sleigh ride through the woodlands,or a fun packed afternoon of toboganning.If you prefer to stay on foot then maybe snow shoe walking,or a guided wildlife adventure is more for you, and if you just get enough of skiing then ski into the night on a tues- friday between four thirty and eight oclock,or test you navigation skills with some ski orienteering.

Everybody will find something they like to eat here in Geilo,with a wide choice of cafes and restaurants, there are light lunches midday at Ellas,or a traditional 3 course meal at Hallingstuene,and all reasonably priced.Geilo also offers other amenities so if your looking for a shop,supermarket and a bank you'll find them here.Keep your eye out for special offers and saving on snow equipment and hire too.
Geilo really does have something for everyone with superb views and activies to enjoy,but if you have enough time to sqeeze in some more sightseeing then a fabulous trip to the worlds largest Fjord,Sognefjord is a must,and the scenic Flam Railway system is the best way to see it, this is a must,so dont miss it!
