Having been to the Fiesta Hotel Tanit for about 4 years running, I was disappointed this year to see the poor reviews which it had obtained.
Upon reading that "The French" were a problem, this was merely shrugged off as people being stereotypical British people, not accepting our neighbours, as we usually do.
However, I was mistaken to find that, indeed, the French appeared to have great control over the hotel(s) and it's facilities.
They were rude, arrogant and often didn't even acknowledge your ppresence. Having been brought up with manners, I took extreme offense when I held doors open for them and didn't even recieve so much as a "merci".
They are free to use the Tanits pool, resturant and entertainment. Whereas we are not allowed to visit their disco, swim in their pool (which is nearly almost empty) or visit the Tennis Courts when it is their allocated time. My brother was playing football with the entertainment team, when a group of french people came and told them to get off as it was "their time".
Sunbed fiasco wasn't too bad towards mid-september. On our first couple of days, big famillies were sitting at the edge of the pool in white chairs at around 8 in the morning, marking their positions for their sunbed. However, not as bad as it seems as on our first day, when we arrived at around 2 in the afternoon, we were able to obtain exceedingly good spots for our sunbeds. But be warned, people can get extremely possessive over where sunbeds go or how many you take.
Moving onto the entertainment, I cannot POSSIBLY concieve how many people have slated it this year. The entertainers are all extremely friendly, e.g. Lou, Chris, DJ, Pico, Dana and Amidou. On several occassions they came and sat down with us and talked.
The Salon Verde only holds about 300 people. But only about 15 people are willing to take part in the shows. Most of them sit at the back of the room and play cards. If this is what you want to do, please go and sit outside and give the seats to those who actually want to participate in the entertainment. On one occasion, during a game of "Zapping" a whole side refused to clap or even cheer.
With regards to the evening entertainment being "X Rated" and "sexual", it is on at 10.00 in the evening. If parents are allowing their small children to stay up until this time, then the fault lies with them, not the entertainment team. During the daytime activities, most jokes have to be "sugar coated" so as not to offend the younger children. This is fine, but when are the adults allowed to have a laugh?
Daytime activities are FANTASTIC. A real laugh and adventure for the more willing amongst us. Each day a different entertainer will run something different, with the chance to win a bottle of "bombastic, fantastic fiesta champagne" and the embarassing right to do the "Hubba Hubba Zoop Zoop".
I can't fault the food this year, even better than last year since the resturant had it's make-over. Especially the freshly grilled burgers and steaks. You may have to wait a while, but you know it's fresh and fantastic. Although the toaster causes problems for breakfast in the mornings, it's only because some people INSIST on having 20 slices of toast.
Thompsons were absolutely brilliant as well. As a rule, we usually avoid them, finding them to be "cold", but this year was different. After a room fiasco (a terrible view) Thompson dealt with our problem effectively and swiftly, and by the next day we had a fantastic view of the pool. Alex was especially friendly, and the little games on the odd days were wonderful to take part in ( we won some strawberry liquor).
Whilst I was there, I encountered no unruly teenagers, nor acts of destruction or vandalism. As an 18 year old, myself, I find all reviews commenting on this as tarring all teenagers with the same brush. Instead, why not comment on the unruly rude adults, who allow their small children to run riot in the hotel and spill drinks?
A word of warning to fellow smokers; you can only buy cigarettes from a registered tobaccasionst, the nearest and cheapest being near Burger King in San Antionio. A pleasant walk in the morning, but a taxi ride is reccomended for walking back. It only costs around 5 euros
All in all, don't believe some of the pessimistic reviews on here. They are only from people who don't like to see the good in things, but instead prefer something to moan about.
Brilliant hotel. Would definitely go again. However, they need to work on the French and their power over everything in the hotel.

Anonymous said, "This was our 1st family beach holiday with children so we had high expectations. They were all met and we would return to this hotel again.
Having read reviews on other sites we can't understand why families are saying the cleanliness and/or food was poor. I am quite fussy as is 1 of our children and we always managed to eat a different meal each day. My husband and youngest son both like to try new things and eat a more varied diet and were very happy with what was on offer. The food was always fresh and tasty with a good variety of meat, fish veg and salad. Also pasta and of course chips for those less adventurous. There was a childrens buffet each day with a choice of chips, pasta etc but our children normallt ate from the main buffet.
Lunchtimes were either buffet choices in the restaurant, western saloon for burges, chips and hotdogs or the mexican restaurant by the neighbouring galleon hotel. The portions here were small so order a couple of things for lunch though.
Our youngest son has food allergies and the receptionist and head chefts in the beach club and hotel restaurants were as helpful as possible with this each evening. Next year we'll take a spanish-english dictionary with us to aid translation.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, from the cleaners to the restaurant manager and in between. If you make a little effort to use manners and try some basic spanish it all helps.
The entertainment was fantastic. During our 1st week we kept to ourselves and should have made a bit more effort really. We did that in week 2 and it was much more fun. So what if you can't fire an arrow or throw a dart - they'll teach you and you have a laugh on the way. There is a lot of choice with daytime activities for adults and children.
Evening entertainment starts with a mini disco for the children and then the adult entertainment starts an hour later. Something different each night with zorro and his team who are hillarious. Avoid the rep show though - it is dreadfull - real car crash entertainment!
The kids clubs were ok but only 1 member of staff was actually qualified so be aware. They were good with the kids but are thomson reps and not nannies.
Accomodation is looking a bit tired and could seriously do with a paint and update. That is our only negative really. A couple of people were there without children for the watersports but it is mainly families with children. We met loads of people who were there for their 3rd, 4th + visits so it must be good."
