Janine wrote, "I have just returned from Sandals in the Bahamas, and I can honestly say that it is over-rated and over priced. The adverts on the resort show it as a perfect retreat for adults/couples when in fact it is sadly lacking on several accounts. My main problems are as follows :-
1) When we checked in at mid-day we had to wait until 3pm for our room. When we actually got into it, it was very noisy as it was on the main walkway to a lift near the reception, so consequently it had passing traffic all day and night. The view was non existent as when we opened the sliding doors onto the ground floor balcony we heard a very noisy generator which was opposite, as viwed several overgrown trees in a shaded area. We immediately asked to be moved but were told we would have to wait until the next day.
2) We asked at 11am where our new room would be, but nobody knew, so we had to return at 2pm to find out. So that left us with 2 days of messing around with rooms. Eventually we were moved to the villas, and were put onto a first floor room with NO balcony. It was quiet which was the main thing, but as we had booked a delux room, we were dissapointed.
3) The room was in need of a full renovation. We had to wait 7-10 mins for hot water to come through the shower. Bathroom fittings were coming away from the wall. Tiles were cracked and the grouting was dirty. The carpet looked as though it had never seen a hoover, and all in all it was not the 5* resort we had paid to come to.
4) The food was variable. Some of the restaurants served lovely food and some served inedible meals
e.g. tough meat, especially lamb and veal. The service also was variable. I sometimes thuoght the bar staff were drunk as they took so long to serve you, and when they did the drinks were good or very bad.
5) When you first see the pools they look great, however they are only cleaned in the morning and by the afternoon are quiet dirty with leaves and bugs floating around. I would expect them to be a lot cleaner.
6) Entertainment is very poor and after 11pm, there isn't much to do apart from drink.

All in all I would not reccomend this resort to anybody. I spoke to several people who where there, both americans ,canadians and english and we were all of the same opinion that it was probarbly lovely when it first opened but time has taken its toll and serious re-investment needs to take place to bring this tired worn out place back into the 21st century 5* standards which people expect."
